# Creating Email Templates

An email message is a composed message that is distributed over a computer network. You can use Communications Control to create email message templates.

From the Create New Template area in the upper-left corner of the page, click the **Email Template** icon to display the following dialog box:

Type your template name in the **Insert template name** field using the naming requirements listed in the dialog box. Then click **Create New Template** to open the **Email Editor**.

Creating new templates usually completes within 8 seconds.

The **Email Editor** is a drag-and drop interface, meaning you click and drag content elements to your message **Stage**, which is the white area in the example **Email Editor** page below.
