# Get Node

The **Get Node** reads a value in the schema or in a public variable.

The Get Node is used to get a value from the schema or a public variable and returns that value. This is useful as it allows the value to be tested by a [conditional](/v1/docs/conditions-and-expressions) branch.

- Select the required node to add or replace the destination. **Edit Get Node** configuration will be displayed.

While adding any of the following profile destinations to the **G****et node**, it gets accepted:

- JourneySteps
- Interactions
- MetaData values

Profile destination gets applied to the selected node.
