Resetting User Password

Prev Next

The Reset Password feature allows Client Admins to assist users who are unable to access their accounts due to forgotten or expired credentials. Instead of manually updating the password, the admin can send a secure reset link directly to the user’s registered email address.

To reset a password, the Client Admin selects the user from the list and clicks on the Reset Password option. The system then generates an email with reset instructions, allowing the user to set a new password securely. This ensures that account access is restored quickly while maintaining security and compliance.

Resetting a Password for a Locked Account

  1. Click on the Edit icon to open the user’s profile and update the Status from Locked to Active in the dropdown.

  2. The system will indicate that a password reset is required to unlock the account. A confirmation modal displays the user’s email address with instructions to set a new password and requests confirmation.

  3. Click Reset Password. When a password reset is initiated, the system (Cognito) automatically generates a temporary password for the user. The system displays a success notification: “Reset password email sent with success.”

Note

The user’s account status changes to Pending until the password reset is completed through link received in the email.

Voluntary Password Reset for an Active Account

  1. Click on the Edit icon to open the user’s profile, then scroll down and select the Reset Password option.

  2. A confirmation modal appears, showing the user’s email address and explaining that the user will receive a password reset email with instructions to set a new password. Click Confirm Reset Password.

  3. The system displays a success notification: “Reset password email sent with success.”

The account status remains Active, but the user must update their password using the email instructions before logging in again.

With these two scenarios, Client Admins can handle both forced unlocks for locked accounts and proactive password resets for active users, ensuring smooth and secure access management.
