Billing History Chart

Prev Next

This feature adds a visual history chart to the Explainer. It helps users quickly compare previous bills, spot trends, and understand why charges change from month to month.

The chart shows key billing data like charges, payments, and usage across multiple billing periods, all in one place. This makes it easy for users to track their spending habits, see patterns over time, and anticipate future costs based on past behavior.

Users can now view and compare billing details across fixed timeframes, such as 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, and 2 years, using the toggle options in the widget. This allows for more flexible trend analysis and better understanding of long-term billing patterns.

This enhancement increases transparency and empowers users to better understand ongoing trends across various billing cycles. Businesses can choose to enable or disable this feature based on their needs.

This feature dynamically retrieves historical billing data through asynchronous API calls. It supports a wide range of billing frequencies including weekly, monthly, semi-annual, and annual cycles based on the billing cycle type received from the Data Platform.

Note

This capability is available only to clients integrated with the Data Platform.

Benefits

  • Supports multiple billing cycles for greater flexibility. For Example: Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, etc

  • Enables clear multi-period comparisons for informed decision-making

  • Increases billing transparency, especially for non-monthly cycles. For Example: Annual utilities or semi-annual insurance

Note

If the data is unavailable or unsupported, the widget remains hidden to prevent confusion. This ensures the end-user experience stays clean, even if historical data isn not available helping maintain a polished and intuitive interface at all times.

  • Data Options: Select the type of data displayed on the chart to align with customer needs. These options are configured in Studio by the client, allowing flexibility based on business priorities. Available options may include:

    • Total Due: Displays the total amount due for each billing cycle.

    • Bill Charges: Displays itemized charges for different billing periods.

    • Consumption: Represents usage-based billing. For Example - energy, data, or service consumption.
