Journey Insights Outliers help ensure that insight cards reflect meaningful, representative journey behavior by filtering out steps with very low activity. In some journeys, a small number of profiles may pass through rarely used steps. While these steps are valid, their low volume can distort metrics, cause “Top 5” results to appear misleading, and hide higher‑impact patterns. Outlier handling prevents these low‑volume anomalies from skewing Journey Insights.
Include Outliers

To address this, Journey Insights provides an Include Outliers toggle at the Journey Insights level. This toggle applies across the complete layout of all five Journey Insights cards and is not configurable per card. When enabled, all journey steps are included in the analysis, regardless of how many profiles completed them. When disabled, steps that fall below a statistical minimum population threshold based on active profiles from the last 30 days are excluded, allowing the cards to focus on higher‑volume, more representative behavior.
Outlier Exclusion
Changing the Include Outliers toggle immediately updates the values shown on all Journey Insights cards. Metrics such as Completion Rate, Stall Rate, Repeat Rate, and Average Step Time are recalculated based on the selected view. This allows users to quickly switch between a full dataset and a filtered view that highlights statistically meaningful, high‑impact steps.

If excluding outliers results in no qualifying data for a specific card or time period, the card clearly indicates that only outlier data remains for that range. This transparent messaging helps users understand empty states and builds trust in the insights being presented, rather than leaving cards unexplained or misleading.
