The preview helps you identify formatting and data issues before the import begins. ### How the Preview Works - Upload the [import file](/cx/docs/import-profiles). - The system parses the file and displays a preview of the first 20 records. - Review the preview for validation errors and warnings. - Correct any issues in the file and upload it again if necessary. - Run the import. - After processing completes, the system displays the number of records successfully imported. The preview validates both the file structure and the data contained in each column. | **Validation Type** | **Description** | | --- | --- | | File format validation | Verifies that the CSV file structure matches the expected format. | | Column validation | Verifies that each column contains data in the expected format. | | Data type validation | Verifies that field values can be parsed correctly based on the field requirements. | **Example**: **Invalid Data Format** If a field expects a date in the **MM/DD/YYYY** format, but the file contains a date in the **YYYY-MM-DD** format, the system cannot parse the value correctly. In this case, the preview displays a parsing error so that you can correct the data before importing the file. ### Attribute Name Standardization During import: - All incoming attribute names are converted to lowercase. - This standardizes profile attributes across imports, preventing duplicate attributes caused by mixed-case column names. ### Import Validation Updates **Unsupported Attributes** During import, the system compares incoming columns with the configured profile schema. - Attributes that do not exist in the schema are not stored in the profile database. The ignored attributes are displayed with an "**(ignored)**" label during preview. > ![Note](https://cdn.document360.io/c578bb14-e570-4b6e-93ed-f6c5b8a2d8a1/Images/Documentation/Note.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-26T13%3A29%3A02Z&se=2026-10-26T14%3A29%3A02Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=H%2FtL7hyASmrZ3uUViv4hlyb%2BGwh%2FS4O%2BlEP7KrQYnNw%3D) > > A **yellow warning banner** is displayed when channel validation issues occur. Review and correct these errors in the import file before proceeding with the import. - After the import finishes, the system displays the total number of records that were imported successfully. - Failed import files are moved to an /error folder within the processed bucket.
