Source File Ingestion

Prev Next

Uploaded files are handled securely and stored only temporarily during the upload and mapping process. All files are automatically deleted once the mapping rules are completed and published.

Upload Source File

Follow the steps below to upload your invoice data using the Data Ingestion Assistant:

  1. Open the Workbench Module: Begin by navigating to the Workbench module. Navigate to the Workbench module from the left-hand panel.

  2. Access the Data Ingestion Assistant: Once inside the Workbench, locate and click on Data Ingestion Assistant. This action will launch the assistant interface, guiding you through uploading your billing data file.

  3. Upload Your Invoice File

  • A new upload window will appear. You can either drag and drop your invoice file into the designated area or click on the Drop files button to browse and select a file from your device.

  • Once the selected files appear in the right-side panel, ensure they are in XML format and do not exceed the recommended maximum size of 5MB.

    Note

The invoice file must be in XML format. You can upload multiple XML invoice files at once. To ensure smooth processing, it is recommended that the individual file size does not exceed 5 MB.

Adding New Source Path

Once the invoice file is uploaded and processed, the system automatically parses its structure and displays all detected data paths.

  • Paths already known to the system will appear without the New tag.

  • Newly detected paths those are not previously configured will be clearly labeled with a New tag.

You have the flexibility to manage these paths before continuing:

  • If you do not want to include a new source path, simply hover over it and click the delete icon to remove it.

  • To continue with the newly identified paths, click Add New Source Paths.

After this step, the system will guide you to the bill mapping process, where you define how the extracted paths correspond to billing elements in the Bill Explainer.

Mapping Status

Source Paths store the list of assigned paths configured in the system through the uploaded XML file. These paths define how data is ingested and mapped within Bill Explainer.

Once a new XML file is uploaded, the source paths become available in the interface, allowing users to review and manage variable mappings based on their status. You can access the Source Paths list from the top-right corner of the page.

After uploading a new source path, the system allows you to:

  • Filter variables by their mapping status using the above indicators.

  • Search for variables using either the variable name, mapped value, or source path to locate and manage them efficiently.

Mapping statuses use visual indicators to show whether a variable is complete, missing, or optional helping users quickly spot what needs attention. The available mapping status indicators are:

🟢 Mapped: The variable is successfully mapped to a source path.

🔶 Needs Mapping: The variable requires a source path to be assigned.

Map if Needed: Mapping is optional, but provides enhanced billing insights if configured.
