Channel Mapping

In this step, you will map unique values from your uploaded data to predefined Channels within the Xponent platform. Channels represent the source or medium through which events occur. For Example: Web, Mobile, or IVR.

Start by reviewing the values returned from the Channel column in your file. Then:

1. Click the input box under the Channel Name column.

2. Select the matching Channel from the dropdown list.

3. If a required Channel is not available, you must exit the Current-State Analytics workflow and create it separately. Your progress will be saved, allowing you to resume the mapping process once the Channel is available.
   

4. Use the checkboxes on the far left to include or exclude specific Channel values from your dataset.

5. You can now also save your progress at any time during the step using the manual Save option available in the top‑right corner, without needing to complete all required fields.

   

6. Once all required Channel values are mapped, the Save and Continue button will become active. Click Save and Continue to proceed to the next step: Event Mapping.

Using Saved Mappings

• If you are using a saved mapping, the Channels will be automatically matched and mapped wherever possible.

• Any new fields in your file that are not covered by the saved mapping will remain unmapped and need to be mapped manually.

• Fields included in the saved mapping but not present in your file are simply ignored.

• If the saved mapping references a Channel that has been deleted, you will need to recreate it before completing the mapping.

Tips & Best Practices

• Both Channels and Identifiers must be created in advance before starting the upload and mapping process.

• If you are working with a long list of Channels, start typing in the dropdown to quickly find the desired match.

• Channel fields are read-only and cannot be edited from within the mapping screen.

• You can selectively include or exclude Channel values using the checkbox next to each item, allowing for more control over your imported dataset.

• Use the manual Save option to regularly save your progress; this ensures you can return and continue from the latest saved state.
