Once your file has been uploaded, the next step is to map its columns to the required Xponent constructs. This ensures your data is correctly interpreted and categorized for analysis.
Start by reviewing the list of all Column Headers detected in your uploaded file. For each column, select the appropriate Type from the dropdown menu. This refers to the Xponent construct that best describes the column’s data. You are required to map at least one column to each of the following constructs:
Identifier - Such as a customer ID, session ID, or user reference.
Event - Representing actions or interactions (For Example: page views, clicks, or steps). Only one column can be used as the Event.
Timestamp - Must follow the ISO 8601 format with a timezone offset. Only one column can be used as the timestamp.
Channel - Defines the origin or source of the event (For Example: web, email, SMS). Only one column can be used as the channel.
Once all required fields are mapped, the Save and Continue button will become active. Click Save and Continue to finalize your column mapping.
You can now also save your progress at any time during the step using the manual Save option available in the top‑right corner, without needing to complete all required fields.
After saving, you will automatically proceed to the Identifier Mapping step to further refine how identities are linked across events.
Using Saved Mappings
If you are using a saved mapping, the headers will be automatically matched and mapped wherever possible.
Column headers are case sensitive. The capitalization in your uploaded file must exactly match the saved mapping in order to be applied.
Any new fields in your file that are not covered by the saved mapping will remain unmapped and need to be mapped manually.
Fields included in the saved mapping but not present in your file are simply ignored.
Tips & Best Practices
Only the required constructs need to be mapped, not every column.
Only one column can be mapped to Channel, Timestamp, and Event.
Use the manual Save option to regularly save your progress; this ensures you can return and continue from the latest saved state.
The Save and Continue button will remain disabled until all four required constructs are mapped.
Keep the uploaded file handy for quick reference during the mapping process.
