After column headers are mapped, the next step is to confirm how your uploaded data aligns with predefined Identifiers in the Xponent platform. Identifiers play a critical role in linking events to users, sessions, or other business entities. To learn more about Identifiers, visit Creating an Identifier Type.
Start by reviewing the columns you previously marked as Identifiers. For each one:
Click the input field under the Identifier Name column.
Select the matching Identifier from the dropdown list. Once selected, the description for that Identifier will be filled in automatically based on its definition in the system.
If the correct Identifier does not exist, you will need to exit the workflow and create it separately. Don’t worry, your progress will be saved, and you can resume directly from the Identifier Mapping step once the Identifier has been created.
You can now also save your progress at any time during the step using the manual Save option available in the top‑right corner, without needing to complete all required fields.
Once all required Identifiers are mapped, the Save and Continue button will become active. Click Save and Continue to proceed to the next step: Channel Mapping.

Using Saved Mappings
If you are using a saved mapping, the Identifiers will be automatically matched and mapped wherever possible.
Any new fields in your file that are not covered by the saved mapping will remain unmapped and need to be mapped manually.
Fields included in the saved mapping but not present in your file are simply ignored.
If the saved mapping references an identifier that has been deleted, you will need to recreate it before completing the mapping.
Tips & Best Practices
Make sure all required Identifiers are created beforehand, including both Identifiers.
If the list of Identifiers is long, start typing in the input box to quickly filter and find the correct match.
Selected Identifiers cannot be edited from this screen. They must match an existing, predefined Identifier.
Use the manual Save option to regularly save your progress; this ensures you can return and continue from the latest saved state.
