Rich Communication Services (RCS) templates in XCC allow you to create interactive, media-rich messages that go beyond SMS/MMS. They support images, buttons, and dynamic variables for personalized engagement.
Create a New RCS Template
Log in to XCC Studio
Go to Templates from the left navigation panel
Click Create New Template
In the Team dropdown, choose the team that will own this template.
For example: Primary team is selected.
Only teams with RCS functionality enabled will appear in the team selection dropdown. This ensures the template is associated with the correct team for permissions and visibility.
In the Template name field, type a unique name for your template
Rules for naming:
Use letters (A-Z, a-z) or numbers (0-9).
No special characters except underscores (_).
No spaces.
Maximum length: 60 characters.
For example: RCS
Validate Template Name
A green checkmark will appear if the name meets the criteria
If invalid, adjust the name according to the rules
Click the Create Template button (blue button at the bottom). Creating a new template usually completes within 8 seconds.
If you want to cancel, click Cancel

RCS Editor
After creating a new RCS template, you’ll land on the RCS Editor screen. The editor is divided into:
Left Panel: Content configuration
Center Panel: Template layout
Right Panel: LIVE preview on a mobile/desktop mockup

Content Configuration
When creating a template, choose one of the following content configurations:
Basic Text: Text-only message
Rich Card: Media + text + interactive buttons/ Suggestive replies (default for RCS)
Carousel: Multiple cards with swipe functionality (COMING SOON)
RCS Editor Items Description
Undo: Click Undo to revert the last change.
Redo: Click Redo to restore an undone action.
Autosave Indicator: Check the timestamp next to disk icon to confirm when the editor last saved changes automatically.
Displays the template name. Click the disk icon to save your template.
Clone/Delete: Click the down arrow to view options to clone or delete your template.
Channel: Identifies the channel to which the template belongs.
For example: RCS.Status Indicator (DRAFT): Shows the current status of your message.
Create New (+ icon): Click on Create New to create templates for different channels, such as SMS, MMS and Email, using the same name as an existing RCS template within the template editor.

The newly created templates are blank but can be easily populated by copying content from other templates.
Each channel template opens in a new tab, and all templates with the same name are grouped together on the dashboard for streamlined organization.
Using one RCS template, you can create only one SMS template, one MMS template and one Email template with the same name. Once these templates are created, the + icon will no longer be available. To create a new template with a similar name, you must first delete the existing one.

Preview (Eye Icon): Click Preview to display a mobile mockup of the message as it will appear to recipients.
Notifications (Bell Icon): Click Bell icon to view alerts or system notifications.
Send Test (Paper Plane Icon): Click Paper Plane to send a test message for verification.
The Send RCS Test feature validates messaging by sending a sample RCS to confirm delivery and format.
Click on the send icon to configure the phone number. The Send RCS test message pop-up window will be displayed.

Enter the phone number to send the RCS.
Click Send Test to receive a one-time test text message for message validation purposes.
Message and data rates may apply. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undeliverable messages.This test feature is currently available only for phone numbers in the United States (+1) region.

Submit: Click Submit to finalize and send the message or submit it for approval.
Preview an RCS Template from the Templates List
From the Templates list, select the Preview option associated with the RCS template (for example, by clicking the preview icon or preview action in the row).
The RCS Preview window opens, displaying the template layout and content.
