Import Profiles

Use the Import Profiles feature on the Profiles screen to upload profile data from a CSV file into the Batch Communications Engine (BCE).

NoteProfiles can also be imported through APIs or automated cloud file ingestion. If used, these integrations will be set up and configured as part of your BCE deployment in coordination with your technical or IT teams.

  • On the Profiles screen , click the Import Profiles button in the upper-right of the toolbar to upload profile data from a CSV file into the Batch Communications Engine (BCE).

  • The Import – Upload CSV File with Profile Data panel opens. It displays guidance for preparing the CSV file and a file drop zone.

 Prerequisites for a CSV Upload:

  • Prepare a CSV file that follows the defined schema.

  • Ensure the file meets the same rules shown on the Upload CSV File with Profile Data panel:

    • Upload one CSV file at a time.

    • Each profile includes a unique profile_id.

    • The file contains no duplicate profiles.

    • The file contains no empty fields

  • In the upload area, drag and drop the CSV file onto the Drag & Drop or click the Browse text (file selector) and choose the CSV file from your local system.

  • After you select the file, the panel shows the file name, size, and a trash icon to remove the file

  • If you selected the wrong file, click the trash (delete) icon in the file tile to remove it and then select the correct CSV file.

  • Click Cancel to stop the CSV file import and return to the Profiles section or click Upload to start the CSV file import.

  • BCE displays a Processing… modal while it extracts profiles from the CSV file.

  • If the file is large, the message notes that processing can take up to two minutes,

Still working… If your file is large, this may take up to 2 minutes.

  • Click the X icon to close the modal

  • After processing completes, BCE returns you to the Profiles screen and displays notification toasts with the results of the import.

  • The notifications can include messages such as:

    • Data Uploaded Successfully. n number of Profiles imported from <file_name>.

    • n number of Profile(s) updated.

    • n number of Profile Subscription with error.

  • Click X icon on the toast message to close the notification or it closes automatically within a couple of minutes.

  • On the Profiles screen, verify that:

    • The Total Profiles count reflects any new profiles imported from the CSV file.

    • The profiles table shows the newly imported or updated profiles.

    • The Last Import timestamp is updated to the time of the most recent import.

  • If the notifications report errors, correct the issues in the source CSV file (for example, duplicate profile_id values or empty fields), and then repeat the import procedure with the corrected file.
