Environments

Environments allow users to configure the connections, metric space, and the engine stack that determines how and where a graph runs. The Environment page is a place in which to store connections for a project. Each project can have multiple environments. These typically represent different stages of deployment, such as Development, UAT, Staging, or Production but you can name them however you like.

Environments can only be created by users with Administration privileges for the Xponent project.

To ensure your analytics data, visualizations, and insights work as expected before going live, you should test everything in a controlled non-production Environment. Setting up a designated Pre-Production Analytics Environment allows you to validate your implementation using test data without impacting production metrics.

Before initiating the analytics workflow, you must configure your Pre-Production Analytics Environment. This allows you to simulate the analytics flow and identify any issues early. The list of environments is shown on the Admin page for the project on the Environments tab.

Create Environments

New Environments can be created using the Create Environment button. A list of existing Environments is displayed, and the currently selected Environment is marked with a tick next to its name.

To create a new Environment:

1. Navigate to the Environments section and click on the Create Environment button. The Create Environment pop-up will appear.

2. Name: Enter the name of the new Environment.

3. Engine Group: Select the engine group in which the Environment will run.

4. Environment Tags: Optionally, add any existing or create new tags to help categorize or organize your Environment.

5. Copy connections from existing Environment: Select this option if you want to replicate connections from an existing Environment into the new one.

6. Click Create Environment.

Assigning the Environment Type

After creating an environment, you have the option to define its type as either Production or Pre-Production for Analytics. While not mandatory, this type affects the type of data available within Analytics and can help you better organize what you view and test.

• Select the environment from the list.

• Choose the appropriate Environment type using the radio buttons. Depending on your selection, a confirmation dialog will appear:

Enter the same environment name (For Example: MyProject-Prod) and click Update to finalize the environment designation. Once completed, the environment is ready to be enabled in the Advanced Settings for analytics.

Update Production Environment

Changing your designated production environment will reset your analytics and your Journey Hub profile store. If you are not sure you should do this, do not proceed. Please contact your Administrator.

To confirm you want to set the production Environment to “MyProject-Prod”, type the name into the field below.

Update Pre-Production Environment

Changing your designated pre-production Environment will reset your analytics and your Journey Hub profile store. If you are not sure you should do this, do not proceed. Please contact your Administrator.

Change Environment

To change the current Environment, select an Environment from the list and click the checkmark button on the right side of the window. This will update the default Environment selection in the testing console to the Environment you have chosen.

The Production or Pre-Production radio button needs to be selected in your designated environment in order to enable journey discovery analytics. The Production Environment radio button allows you to designate one environment for isolating Xponent Profile data used in production. Similarly, one environment can be designated as Pre-Production. These two environments are kept fully separate from each other in Analytics, ensuring that production and pre-production data do not overlap.

Selecting the Production or Pre-Production Environment radio button will trigger a confirmation dialogue box.

Ensure that this is the correct Environment you want to designate as your Production or Pre-Production Environment before proceeding. To confirm, you’ll need to type the exact name of the Environment in the field provided.

Delete Environments

Environments can be deleted by clicking on the trash can icon. A confirmation dialogue will appear.
